Malachite

My king size version of the Thrive quilt by Suzy Quilts has been waiting for it’s moment to shine for some time now. I almost gave up on it many times, but with my APQS Lucey longarm, I am not able to quilt even king size quilts! It took two of us to wrangle my poorly pieced backing (I did eventually trim it up square) onto my frame. But once I pinned this baby down, it was smooth sailing!

I chose the Malachite pantograph from Urban Elementz because it reminded me of a topographical map, and the Thrive quilt gives me visions of mountains.

I also appreciate a good curve pantograph on an angular quilt top design.

For this quilt I used Glide 40 thread in a neutral Linen color, and this moderately dense quilting has given it a delicious buttery texture.

Wrangling this king size on my domestic Janome to sew on the binding was another hilarious pursuit.

Do you need some help wrangling a giant quilt? I’ve got you covered! Reach out with questions or use my work request form to get started!
