Friendship Bracelets
12” Quilt Block from the
May Quilt Block Mania
Free for the month of May!
The theme this month is “Friendship.” The first thing that came to mind when I considered this theme were the sweet string bracelets I would make at camp as a young girl. The same ones my kids still make today! I considered for a while the best way to represent that as a quilt block, and this is what I came up with!
This block requires so fancy skills at all! It involves strip piecing, and having good control of your 1/4” seam would be helpful.
Best of all, it’s VERY scrap friendly! Have leftover quilt binding? Perfect! A few strips leftover from a jelly-roll? You got it! My version used 8 different colors (I repeated colors 1 & 9 at the top and bottom) but you could use as few as 2 colors to get different effects. The pattern includes a free coloring sheet, so get creative!
This block is free for the month of May, and will be available in my shop in June! I’d love to see what you do with it. Share and tag me on Instagram at
