The Coreina Quilt Pattern – A Modern Quilt
Why "Coreina"?
I'm thrilled to introduce the Coreina Quilt—a playful, versatile pattern that's been inspired by my own longtime online persona. "Coreina" has been my digital identity for nearly two decades, from Sims and World of Warcraft adventures to email sign-ups for store coupons. So naturally, when I designed a quilt that felt uniquely "me," it had to carry her name!
Why You'll Love Coreina
The Coreina Quilt is a modern, block-based quilt designed specifically for precuts like Layer Cakes and Fat Quarters, but it also includes yardage options. Whether you prefer a scrappy aesthetic, curated selections, or bold and streamlined colorways, Coreina offers plenty of versatility to suit your style.
Meet the Coreina Quilt Versions
When I first saw Maeve by Crystal Manning for Moda Fabrics, I was instantly smitten by its rich, vibrant colors. The Layer Cake version allows each print to shine, creating a beautifully scrappy look.
This version, using Fat Quarters from Alexandra Bordallo’s Winged Garden collection for Andover Fabrics, achieves a balanced, modern feel that's still playful.
For a modern, clean interpretation, the Bloomcore version uses just two fabrics: Art Gallery Fabrics Bloomcore in Teal and Zambia Stone. This color combination is bold, cohesive, and fresh.
Intermediate-Friendly Quilting
Coreina is designed to be enjoyable for intermediate quilters. The quilt comes together quickly, with straightforward piecing, but the rewarding challenge arrives during assembly. The sashing between blocks requires a bit of careful alignment. Think of it as a satisfying puzzle that's not overly complicated but gives you a chance to showcase your quilting skills.
